Why I Chose the University of Pittsburgh

I choose Pittsburgh as my top spot for residency because I felt there were several people that would be excellent mentors throughout residency. I liked the supportive atmosphere from attending surgeons and other residents without feeling a dominating hierarchy. There is a dedication to academics and research throughout the program. Finally, I felt there was no deficient area in the department which would allow me to be well trained and competitive for any field that I may choose to pursue.

Non-Academic Accomplishments

I worked for several years in emergency medical services prior to medical school
