Alum Dr. KMarie King Named our Nation’s First Black Female Chair of Surgery at an Academic Health Science Center

KMarie King, MD, MS, MBA, FACS, has been named Chair of the Department of Surgery and Chief of Surgery at Albany Medical Center, effective September 1, 2021. Dr. King will be the first Black female chair of surgery at an academic health science center in the United States. She completed a research fellowship in 2003 and her general surgery residency training in 2005 with our department. Congratulations to Dr. King on this distinguished and groundbreaking achievement!
