Dr. Edith Tzeng named 2025 RAS-ACS Outstanding Mentor of the Year

The Resident and Associate Society (RAS) of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) has announced Dr. Edith Tzeng as the recipient of the 2025 RAS-ACS Outstanding Mentor of the Year Award. This honor celebrates a Fellow of the ACS who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to mentoring and inspiring Resident and Associate Fellow members.

Dr. Tzeng was nominated by Dr. Jihane Jadi and Dr. Katherine Reitz, who highlighted her remarkable leadership in developing a resident training program that promotes professional growth within a compassionate and inclusive environment.

Nominees were evaluated across five key areas:

1. Excellence in surgical practice
2. Active involvement with ACS
3. Strength of endorsement from RAS members
4. Contributions to the surgical community at local, regional, and national levels
5. Proven impact in mentoring future surgeons

Among a competitive field of candidates, Dr. Tzeng stood out for her unwavering commitment to mentorship and her influence on the next generation of surgical professionals.

She will be formally recognized during the Annual Business Meeting for Members at Clinical Congress 2025, scheduled for Tuesday, October 7.
