Department of Surgery

Tony Haykal, MD

  • General Surgery Resident (PGY-2)

Why I Chose the University of Pittsburgh

I chose the University of Pittsburgh General Surgery program because it offers unparalleled training for a well-rounded surgeon, including diverse clinical experiences with exceptional surgical leaders passionate about teaching and improving healthcare, as well as unlimited access to research resources to cultivate scientists, all in a friendly and supportive setting. This creates the best environment for residents to reach their academic and personal growth.

Non-Academic Interests/Accomplishments

I have a passion for cooking and baking and find it fun and stress-relieving to create dishes to share them with friends. I enjoy swimming and water activities. In Pittsburgh, I enjoy biking around the park trails and recently developed an interest in indoor rock climbing. I also appreciate a good mental workout with some mind-twisting Mystery/Thriller books or movies
