Title "The cellular immune response to elective surgery: the impact of aging and comparisons to the traumatic injury response"

Aged patients (>65 years old) have increased morbidity and mortality following surgical intervention. However, the age-related differences in the perioperative and post-operative immune responses to major operative stress have not been fully characterized. Furthermore, the response to surgical stress is often used as a surrogate for the traumatic injury response, which may be unfounded.

Title: "Right-Sizing" Trauma and Emergency General Surgery Care

Our projects focus on identifying specific Acute Care Surgery patients and resources and ensuring they align. I plan to discuss our work on the volume-outcome relationship in EMS for severely injured patients and access to advanced emergency general surgery services in the context of the new EGS-VP program.
